731Are Poker Players Smarter Now than 10 Years ago?

posted on February 11th, 2010

There has never been more information available to the wanting poker online player than there is in the world right now. With the poker boom in full swing and TV and publishing of all kinds swooping in to get their bit, you can almost always find a poker game on any station and a new book each month in most stores. As a result, it seems like there is a lot more utility available to the poker player who wants to learn more about the game. Players now are more in the know than ever, which certainly has had a big impact on the poker game. So fields are larger, and tables are fatter, and there is more money at stake than there has ever been. But are these players really smarter? Even with all this information, it seems like the fields must also be getting flushed with players who hear about the game but know only as much as they can glean from watching it on TV. How many new players actually read and research poker history and articles? I bet it’s less than you’d imagine. So, the answer to the question seems both yes and no. While there are certainly more players with more experience and info at their hands, there are likely just as many who have little to no clue. Either way, the game is good.
